Why I set a very challenging writing goal, and why you should do too

The not-so original 90-day 2,000 words-a-day challenge

All right, all right. I can hear you already.

Don’t take it personally Fab, but this is not incredibly original, don’t you think?

I have been reading through Medium for quite a while, and I have come across similar challenges or accounts in various shapes or forms.

Yet, I still wanted to do this. Do this for me. I have been gestating a book idea (book number two, cue confetti cannon) for far too long, writing cues and hints.

I have been itching to write more for months.

I have wanted to be a professional writer since I was 10, and I started obsessing over Stephen King . Feels only fair to add, I also had a healthy obsession with Backstreet Boys — I can safely admit I was a nerd with a mainstream edge.

Where was I?

Oh, I digress. That happens a lot by the way. I just want to write more. I am a creator, and creating is just what fills my soul.

The rules are very simple. 2,000 words a day for 90 days. My Ulysses app as a handy companion — yes this diary series totally counts towards my thousands.

No, Instagram captions do not count. (See, I am playing fair!) No emails. Writing articles and book chapters only.

This is an extra challenge for me since I have the nasty habit of struggling to write long articles.

Every day, I’ll be sharing some thoughts about my challenges, questionable playlists and light bulb moments.

Every week, I’ll publish them for you to read and enjoy.

I hope that this inspires you to join me in a 90-day writing streak. If you want to join me for 2,000 words or more, please be my guest.

If you want to start small, that is okay too.

Doing it together is just so much more fun than flying solo (ups, innuendo alert)

Start today, do not wait until Monday. For some unbeknownst reason to me, I have decided to start this series on a Saturday - I guess I am a rule-breaker, you all.

I believe in the bigger plan of the Universe, and everything happens for a reason — and the fact that Van Halen came up can only mean we’re going to be in for a ride.

Would you like to join me? Tweet me at @fabgiovanetti and let’s get this party started.

Tears for Fears are up next, and this must be a sign. Damn. I digressed again. Until next time.

Thanks for reading! 😊 If you enjoyed it, test how many times can you hit 👏 in 5 seconds. It’s great cardio for your fingers AND will help other people see the story.
